Introduction

Shwetha Chandrashekar is a Senior Associate at GLA and is based in Bangalore.

Shwetha has acquired significant work experience at the law-finance-management intersection in both the banking and the start-up sectors, and this has helped shape her area of specialization at GLA. She currently handles early-stage financing/ investment transactions (both angel and venture capital funding) for both investor and investee clients. This includes assistance in negotiating, structuring and drafting investment transaction documentation as well as conducting due diligence on investee companies. Shwetha also supports several of GLA’s retainer clients on company law, technology law and employment law issues.

Shwetha commenced her career as the Legal Manager in the Corporate Legal Group at one of India’s largest private sector banks. She provided legal advice to the structured finance, private banking and international banking business units. Thereafter, she headed the legal and business development team at a healthcare start-up in Bangalore, prior to joining GLA in September, 2015.

One of Shwetha’s most recent publications in the area of fin-tech and corporate law is ‘Equity-based Crowdfunding as an Early-stage Financing Alternative for Start-ups’ which was published on the leading legal blog, IndiaCorpLaw.

Shwetha graduated from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore in 2012.
