Sofie Skalstad is one of two project leaders at Unga på landsbygden for the young initiative “Young culture challenges the urban norm”. She also studies Rural Development at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
As a part of the young rural community movement, with a great urge for the rural challenges and possibilities, Sofie and the project question the view that you have to live in a city to be at successful and and satisfied human being: What is center and what is periphery? What role does place play when it comes to who we are, who we can be and how we are shaped?
During spring 2017 Unga på landsbygden will create a touring exhibition with five young rural based artists who will examine the relation between different places and how they are loaded with different meanings and expressions of power.
