Astrophysicist and science communicator Marc Kuchner has founded two citizen science projects, involving more than 100,000 citizen scientists in cutting edge NASA science. At DiskDetective.org, volunteers search for new planetary systems using data from the WISE infrared space telescope.
At BackyardWorlds.org, volunteers search for the elusive planet nine and other exotic objects in the realm just beyond Neptune’s orbit. Kuchner is the author of a book, “Marketing for Scientists: How to Shine in Tough TImes” (Island Press 2011) and Citizen Science Lead for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate.
